Google NYC Anthem

The Google products team went to New York to interview interesting people and gather their stories about creativity and the intersection of how they got to where they are. Their pieces were originally intended to be combined into a short anthem, but because the stories were so compelling, we also pulled out 21 of the individual stories. We chose to shoot these stories as true-to-life documentary stories and followed these people around the city for a day. We made no mention of the product, but focused instead on their lives. Occasionally the products would show up in use, but the beauty of these pieces was that they were product videos that ended up being so real that you became more engaged in their stories. The client was brave enough to downplay the technology, knowing that this would quickly become overdone. Below are a few of those that I found most compelling.
